Pattern tile
Whole fields or whole zones tiled on a planned spacing so the ground drains evenly and dries out on time.

A wet spot costs you planting days every spring and yield every fall. AKW installs field tile on GPS grade, maps every line, and keeps waterways and ditches moving water off your ground. Fall tile season books up in August.
Farm drainage and field tile
Most of the ground around Brimfield will grow a crop if the water leaves on time. When it does not, you plant late, you work around the same low spots every year, and the yield map shows it.
AKW is a family excavating outfit that does a lot of its work on farm ground: pattern and targeted tile, mains and laterals, grassed waterways, and ditch work. Kevin Windish has been running equipment for over 30 years, and he walks the field with you before anything gets quoted.
Farmers, farm managers and landowners call from all over Peoria, Knox, Fulton, Stark and Woodford counties, including Brimfield, Elmwood, Farmington, Princeville, Hanna City, Yates City, Williamsfield, Dunlap, Kickapoo, Peoria, Eureka, Metamora, Washington, Canton, Knoxville and Galesburg.
What we do on farm ground
Whole fields or whole zones tiled on a planned spacing so the ground drains evenly and dries out on time.
The low spot you plant around every year gets its own run, tied into your existing system or a new outlet.
Main lines sized for the water they have to carry, laterals laid on grade and connected right.
Every line recorded as it goes in. You keep the as-built map, on paper and as a file.
Grassed waterways shaped so water leaves the field without cutting a gully through the middle of it.
Ditches cleaned and maintained so the water your tile moves has somewhere to go.

The part most contractors skip
Tile only works if the grade is right for the whole run. AKW installs with GPS machine control, which holds the planned grade foot by foot instead of trusting an eyeball and a laser pole. No bellies in the line, no backfall, no dead runs you find out about next spring.
Every job is mapped as it goes in. You get an as-built record of where every main and lateral sits, how deep, and what size. When you repair a line in ten years, add a wet spot to the system, or sell the farm, that map is worth real money.
Get your field looked atHow it works
Kevin comes out, looks at where the water sits and where it can go, and talks through what you want the field to do.
Tile layout, sizing and the outlet get worked out before a machine shows up. You get a straight number.
GPS machine control holds grade through every pull. When the trench closes you get the tile map to keep.

Questions
While the tile goes in, the GPS records exactly where each main and lateral runs and how deep it sits. You get that as-built map when the job is done, so you know where your tile is before you dig, repair, add on, or sell the ground.
Tile has to fall the whole way to the outlet. GPS machine control holds the planned grade foot by foot through the pull, which keeps low spots and backfall out of the line so the water keeps moving.
Field tile goes in after harvest, roughly October until the ground freezes, plus early spring. The fall schedule fills up in August, so the earlier you call, the better your spot.
Both. A targeted run for one wet spot is a common job, and so is pattern tiling a whole field. Kevin will walk it with you and tell you what makes sense for that ground.
