Pond building and pond cleanout, central Illinois.

New ponds dug to hold water, and old ponds brought back from silt and cattails. AKW builds, cleans out and reshapes ponds for landowners and farms around Brimfield and across central Illinois.

Ponds

A pond should hold water, not cattails.

Ponds fill in. Silt washes in off the ground above them, cattails move in along the edge, and a few years later the deep end is not deep and the bank is sliding in.

AKW digs new ponds and brings old ones back. The long-reach excavator pulls silt and cattails out of the water without tearing up the bank you want to keep, and the soil gets hauled or spread where you want it.

Landowners and homeowners call from all over the area, including Brimfield, Elmwood, Farmington, Princeville, Hanna City, Yates City, Williamsfield, Dunlap, Kickapoo, Peoria, Eureka, Metamora, Washington, Canton, Knoxville and Galesburg.

What we do on ponds

New ponds and old ponds brought back.

New pond construction

A pond dug and shaped for your ground and what you want it for, with the soil put where it helps you.

Pond cleanout

Silt pulled out to get the depth back, done from the bank with a long-reach excavator where the pond allows.

Cattail and muck removal

Cattails and the muck they root in dug out along the edge, not just cut off at the top.

Bank reshaping

Banks cut back to a stable slope and shaped so they stop sliding into the water.

Rock at the waterline

Rock set where the waves hit to keep the bank from washing out again.

Soil hauled or spread

Everything that comes out of the pond gets hauled off or spread and graded where you want it.

From the air

A pond bank, put back right.

Silt and cattails out of the water, the bank cut back and shaped, rock set where the waves hit. Four clips off one AKW pond job this summer.

How it works

Walk it, plan it, dig it.

  1. Walk the pond

Kevin looks at the water, the banks, how the pond fills and where the soil can go.

  2. Plan the work

You get a plan and a straight number for the depth, the bank work and what happens to the soil.

  3. Dig it and clean up

The machines do the work and the site gets left clean, with the bank shaped and the soil handled.

Questions

What people ask before they call.

Can you clean out a pond without draining it?

Often, yes. A long-reach excavator can pull silt and cattails from the bank while the water stays in. Whether that works for your pond depends on its size and depth, which Kevin will tell you after he walks it.

What happens to the silt and muck you dig out?

It gets hauled off or spread and graded on your property, whichever you prefer. That gets settled before the work starts.

Do you build new ponds?

Yes. AKW digs new ponds and shapes the banks and the soil around them.

Can you fix a bank that keeps washing out?

Yes. Banks get cut back to a stable slope, and rock can be set along the waterline where the waves hit.

Is the site visit free?

Yes. The site visit and the estimate are free and there is no obligation.

What area do you cover?

AKW works out of Brimfield, Illinois and covers Peoria, Knox, Fulton, Stark and Woodford counties, including Brimfield, Elmwood, Farmington, Princeville, Hanna City, Yates City, Williamsfield, Dunlap, Kickapoo, Peoria, Eureka, Metamora, Washington, Canton, Knoxville and Galesburg.
